Principal's Message ::

Swami Dhanonjoy Das Kathiababa Mahavidyalaya was established in 2009 in the remote rural area of Bhara. The village of Bhara already had a Primary and a High School functioning on the grounds adjoining to the newly established undergraduate institution. Although not conveniently situated in terms of communication and located at a distance of about 20 kms from the nearest municipality of Bishnupur, the college was inaugurated keeping the interests of the local people and tribal community in mind. A significant proportion of the student strength of the college belongs to the adjoining villages and tribal belts. The institution, in spite of its isolated situation has been able to attract students from Bishnupur and adjacent towns as well, who avail of the infrequent bus services to materialize their dreams of higher education. The success of the institution lies in its ability to kindle the beacon of knowledge and inspire the spirit to overcome all hurdles that stand in the way of enlightening minds. The thirst for knowledge and quest for economic growth and professional success has ensured a steady inflow of students.

At present the Institute offers Honours courses in Bengali, English, History, Sanskrit, Education, Geography and Santali and General courses in Bengali, English, Political Science, Education, History, Sanskrit, Philosophy, Sociology, Geography, Physical Education and Santali.
Although the college is hemmed in by dense forestry which segregates it from the more developed sectors around, the institute and its torch bearers have always encouraged a culture of exchange and kept open the channels of communication when it comes to knowledge. The faculty members take an active role in upgrading themselves by attending conferences, seminars and workshops and encourage their students to follow the same path. The college which at present harbours a Humanities department believes in reconnecting the textual study of humanities to more concrete developments along humanitarian lines that would truly pave the way for rural upliftment. Such a broad and inclusive ethos of learning requires an interdisciplinary approach and an application of textual learning to everyday situations. We sincerely hope our students who are active participants in programmes such as NSS will be able to engineer concrete changes that shape lives in a meaningful direction. What makes our college stand apart is its distinctive vision of empowering the deprived and downtrodden people of the land through knowledge and helping them achieve their true potential. Independent thinking and innovative collaborations are the cornerstones of such a vision.
