Sanskrit Department

The department of Sanskrit at Swami Dhananjoy Das Kathiababa Mahavidyalaya was started in the academic year 2010-2011 under the Burdwan University. Initially it was only pass course. In the academic year 2012-2013 it was approved to teach honours under the Burdwan University. Since 2017 this department has been affiliated to Bankura University. There are two SACT in this department. Currently 2023-2024 academic year, this department offers Major,Mainor & Multidisciplinary. courses as per NEP -2020. Besides Honours,Programme & Generic courses are also introduced in CBCS norms.

Vision: The primary aim of this department is to ensure that every class of students . Creating and environment conducive to learning and assisting in their thematic development. To impart the tradition and glory of Sanskrit to the students. Dedication to students is the core of our department. We can proudly say that student of our department have got the opportunity to study in different universities

Mission: Sanskrit language is the oldest and most traditional of languages. This language is the mother of the all Indian languages. This language is equally relevant today.

Our mission will be —

• To inform the students about the importance of this language.
• To create a platform for new knowledge based on Sanskrit language.
• To bring Sanskrit as medium in mainstream education.
• To improve the linguistic skills of the students so that they can speak and write Sanskrit well.
• To prepare students to participate in various quiz compititions,debate meetings, discussion meetings, seminars etc.
• To motivate students to write in Sanskrit literature and for Sanskrit research
